"As they said in the '80's, this show is awesome... as colorful, sweet, and tasty as a jar of Ronald Reagan's jellybeans."

- WCBS TV

Let’s head back to the 1980s! Rock star wannabe Robbie Hart is New Jersey’s most in-demand wedding singer. When his own wedding plans go down the pan and he is left standing at the altar, his heartbreak and grief suddenly make him the worst wedding singer you can find. He ruins every wedding he plays until he connects with Julia, a pretty young waitress who dreams of her own perfect wedding. There’s just one problem: she’s already engaged to Glen, a rich, shallow Wall Street broker. Despite Robbie and Julia’s growing feelings, a series of miscommunications lead them away from each other. When Julia elopes with Glen to Las Vegas, Robbie decides to play the gig of his life to win her heart and her hand in marriage.

Character Breakdown

Robbie HartThe lead singer of the band. Charming/charismatic and truly, actually kind. A nice guy, not a “nice guy.” A little bit of a weirdo. A dreamer and a hopeless romantic. Guitar-playing ability is a PLUS, but ability to look like you can play guitar is a MUST. High Tenor.

Gender: male

Age: 25 to 35

Vocal range top: C6

Vocal range bottom: B3

NOTE: Role requires the actor to kiss Julia and Holly, and a little stage combat.

Julia SullivanThe “girl next door” and hopeless romantic. Sweet, empathic. A little bit of a weirdo. Conflicted between settling for what she has, Glen, vs trying for true love with Robbie. Soprano.

Gender: female

Age: 25 to 35

Vocal range top: F5

Vocal range bottom: G3

NOTE: Role requires the actor to kiss Robbie, and some physical contact with Glen.

SammyThe bass player in the wedding band and one of Robbie's best friends. Total himbo. Pretends to be happy as a single dude, but obviously in love with Holly. Baritone-Tenor

Gender: male

Age: 25 to 35

Vocal range top: A5

Vocal range bottom: C4

GeorgeThe wedding band's keyboardist and one of Robbie's best friends. Sensitive and intuitive. His style is ripped-off from Boy George of the Culture Club. A flamboyant gay icon. High Tenor with a strong falsetto. Kinda raps.

Gender: male

Age: 25 to 35

Vocal range top: A5

Vocal range bottom: C4

HollyJulia's cousin. Flirty, to say the least. Here for a good time, not a long time. Loves Sammy, despite her best judgment. Belty Soprano and great dancer.

Gender: female

Age: 25 to 35

Vocal range top: E5

Vocal range bottom: A3

NOTE: Role requires a quick kiss with Robbie, and wearing somewhat revealing attire. We will work with comfort levels!

Glen GugliaJulia's fiancé. Rich, shallow Wall Street broker. Narcissist. Super “nice” guy as long as he’s getting his way. In secret, a sleazebag and serial cheater. Patrick Bateman without all the murdering. Baritone-Tenor.

Gender: male

Age: 30 to 45

Vocal range top: B5

Vocal range bottom: D4

NOTE: Role requires a little stage combat, and some physical contact with Julia.

RosieRobbie's grandmother who raised him. Motherly toward him but adventurous. She’s a “hip old granny who can hip-hop, bebop, dance til ya drop and yo yo, make a wicked cup of cocoa.” Soprano and Raps (How well? Subjective…)

Gender: female

Age: 60 to 80

Vocal range top: C5

Vocal range bottom: C4

LindaRobbie's fiancé who leaves him at the altar. The hot rocker chick. More into status and success than her man’s “hart.” In the end, she doesn’t have a lot of other prospects. Belty Rocker Soprano, probably a good dancer (Or has a lot of confidence!)

Gender: female

Age: 20 to 30

Vocal range top: D5

Vocal range bottom: A3

NOTE: Role requires sexually suggestive dancing, and possibly somewhat revealing attire. We will work with comfort levels, I promise.
